Summer 2011 Volunteer Opportunities at the Acton Arboretum

1. Selling "Pocket Packets". We would love someone to hang out at the Arboretum several times a week, for as many hours as the volunteer is able to spare, sitting at a picnic table near the main entrance selling "Pocket Packets" which are educational self-guided tours and plant cards in a little plastic pouch that costs $5.00.

Hours required: 2-10 hours per week
Location: Acton Arboretum main lawn, Taylor Road
Skills: Responsible for products and cash. Volunteer must account for all packets sold with correct amount of money turned in each week.

2. Weeding stone dust trails. Our upper stone dust trails get weeds in them. We need someone who can remove the weeds and add new stone dust. Location: Acton Arboretum main lawn and fragrance garden. Skills required: we will train volunteers and provide the tools for the job. It is not hard work but it requires attention to detail and perseverence. Listening to ipod while working is very acceptable!

Note:
Volunteers will need own transport. Water by hose is available on site.
Currently no toilet facilities, but a porta-potty may be coming soon!
